Sales List: Baseball List

It's often been said that baseball is as American as apple pie. That's a fairly astute observation as the sport has rightfully taken its place as the nation's pastime for well over a century. While most believe Abner Doubleday to be the one who created baseball, it was Alexander Cartwright who laid the foundation of what baseball is today, many of his rules are still in effect. The first official recorded baseball game took place in 1846 between Cartwright's Knickerbocker Base Ball Club and the New York Baseball Club. Twelve years later, the first official baseball league, the National Association of Base Ball Players was formed in 1858. Baseball grew in popularity through the 1800s and saw the formation of the first professional baseball team - the Cincinnati Red Stockings - in 1869. From there, other teams and leagues rose up, maturing into the form we know and love today.

Americans' fascination with the game has been around as long as the game itself, with countless players transcending the sport to become pop culture icons. During the 1920s, Babe Ruth revolutionized the game and captured a nation. Even today his accomplishments are still being talked about with a sense of reverence. Joe DiMaggio's (known as Joltin' Joe and The Yankee Clipper) amazing 15 year career with the New York Yankees signaled the start to a new age of baseball. In 1947, Jackie Robinson broke through the color barrier and helped integrate baseball by joining the Brooklyn Dodgers.

As with most icons of years past, countless products were produced for fans and we are offering a nice selection with this list of collectibles. If you are looking to complete (or start collecting) the set of Sweet Caporal buttons, we have 9 different to choose from, as well as 3 rarely seen DiMaggio buttons, a Dizzy Dean premium ring, Cincinnati Reds 1961 World Series charm and much more.
